Making Homemade Ice Cream!

Apologies if it’s been a while since we’ve posted in this blog. Because our toxic work pretty much preoccupies our daily routine, coming up with something new to post here is quite taxing, and we’d rather spend our free time together watching movies, cooking dinners, going out, or sleeping! Haha. 😀

But since this awesome machine makes one of our favorite desserts, it deserves a brand-spanking new post in this blog! So here it goes…

Maan’s parents came home from Korea recently bringing home a pasalubong for us — an Ice Cream Maker.

Of course my wife was soooo excited to use it. The reason? Well, not exactly because we’ll finally be able to make our own ice cream (whatever flavor we want!!), but mostly because it was PINK. Haha!

So last night, after a loooong hot day (literally, since its Summer Solstice, haha), we gave homemade ice cream-making a shot.

The machine came with a recipe book for basic ice cream flavors like vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. But aside from ice cream, you can also make sherbets and frozen yogurts with this! Boom!

And because I’m a peanut butter addict, when I saw that there was a recipe for peanut butter ice cream, without a doubt, this would be our first flavor to make. Haha. Di na nakapalag si Maan. 🙂

So we got the ingredients and started mixing and whipping…

Ingredients include Peanut Butter, Sugar, Whole Milk, Whipping cream and Vanilla Extract

The ice cream maker has a freezer bowl which you have to freeze overnight (at least 24 hours according to one website) before you can use it. Buti na lang Ate Mimi has one already at home so we had some pro-tips like making sure to freeze the bowl properly, and making the ice cream in a cool place, and choosing what kind of cream to use.

So after mixing all the ingredients in a bowl, we turned the machine on and put the mixtur inside the freezer bowl.

We left the machine do its magic for about 15 minutes and voila! We had homemade peanut butter ice cream!!!

Happy kid!

Of course, the best part was cleaning up! I got to finish all those morsels stuck in the machine blades! Hehehe. :p

Ice Cream Monster! Finishing it all up!

The ice cream we made was so creamy and sinfully fattening, haha. We should have used a lighter cream (half-and-half) as prescribed in the recipe book since the peanut butter was already creamy enough. We just couldn’t find the half-and-half cream in the supermarket though. But anyway…we’ve already tried mixing the ice cream with Nutella, almonds and also putting it on a belgian waffle! SARAP! 🙂 Can’t wait to make other flavors as well! Stay tuned!
